Finding Dad!!!

PurpleEleganceandLace

So lets see where are ? Mom is trying to begin a new life in the city (NYC), meets Dad and hangs out in the city with him for a few months, gets married and becomes pregnant. She leaves to go back home to have the baby and Dad stays in the city. Mom goes back to city to think of the memories and I think to see if she can find him but fails. As I later found out, Dad was actually AWOL from the Air Force. He turned himself in, served time and then got released. In the mean time I was born, dad has no idea, I live with Mom and my story continues. Mom and I go to the city always looking but never finding…

Now I am grown, my life intertwines around and into Mom’s life. I get married, have two wonderful children and my…

Except for how cold it is and the snow that is forecast to get here in the next day or two, it is an awesome place to live (of course the skiers and snow boarders will be praying for snow!!).

I am off to finish up some shopping as I have today off, so everyone enjoy your day, be safe and have fun!!!

An insert to yesterdays story “Legacy”

PurpleEleganceandLace

I found this stapled together, 3 page short writing, that seems to be an extension of the first original story. Mom wrote this as an added description of the months following her meeting my Dad for the first time outside the RCA building. It looks to belong right after paragraph 6 ending with

(They looked out at the topless towers with their jeweled lights and a sky full of bright stars for their roof.).  Then the new addition:

The Magic of the city filled their days as late summer drifted into fall. They shared each others insignificant stories of their lives and explored each others dreams. On a warm Indian summer night, they sat late in the plaza. The aura that surrounds lovers shone on them like a light and made the few passers-by smile. As a waning moon hung over the tower of the RCA building, they planned their…

Mom’s story in 1993!!

PurpleEleganceandLace

This is the story she wrote for English class, April 28, 1993, and received an A-. The story was based on true facts but there are some events and names that have been changed. The ending of the story is one that made sense to her but is not real. She wrote this story as if it was me telling it (through my daughters eyes).

Legacy

My mother did not want the same orderly life her mother had lived, in the same orderly kind of a house. A house that a good New England family had lived in generation after generation. A house of smothered emotions stifled beneath creaky iron armor called etiquette. She wanted something more. That’s why she went to New York City.  Against family protests Mom enrolled at New York University instead of a New England college close to home.

Upon her arrival in New York, Mom…

Ducks!!

A few days ago I meet my family at a local park area as they wanted me to take their family picture for Christmas cards. We all meet in the parking lot and proceeded to walk down by the pond. Well, the ducks saw us coming and came over to greet us. They walked right up to where we standing, maybe they wanted their picture taken too?? 🙂

It was really very cute and my granddaughter enjoyed it 🙂

Arnica    We all had a great time!! The little things and quality time is so important and means so much.

Tonight!!

Whew… I am really tired tonight, can hardly keep my eyes open! I wanted to at least post a little bit tonight as I have not had the chance to be on the blog in a few days. I spent the whole weekend Christmas shopping and doing decorations!! I am done with the shopping and finished decorating the tree this evening!! Working all week leaves little time or energy for doing much else so I am happy to have gotten this far!! Guess I just don’t have the same energy I use too.. getting old!! 😦

Only a few more days till the shortest day of the year!! I really hate that it gets dark so early, I think that is one of the reasons I get tired so early… Feels like 11pm when it is only 7p!! On the positive side of that the days will slowly start to get longer after the 21st… Wahoo :-). I think I’ve also gained a few pounds too!! With the weather changing and getting much colder comfort foods seems more irresistible and sweets are yummy!! Holidays… oh well, enjoy now and then back to eating healthy!! Think I’ll go grab one of those delicious  homemade cookies right now!! Cup of hot decaf and a chocolate chip cookie :-)!!

Hope everyone has a fantastic evening and a great tomorrow!! Stay healthy and live with passion and kindness….

Whitefish Pictures!!

Sorry it has taken so long to get these promised pictures up. I searched my personal picture file and really could not find any good pictures. I will have to go out and do that someday soon! In the mean time I have gotten some pictures off the internet.  The Whitefish ski mountain opened Saturday and winter season is in full swing. The Christmas lights are up, the local downtown shops are gearing up for the Christmas events and holiday shoppers and cheer is everywhere!!

First let me start off by showing you where I live. Way up there in the northwest, almost into Canada. You can see where the white sign is pointing too…

we are here

Here is our wonderful Big Mountain Ski Resort, all 3,000 acres. My daughter and her family are looking forward to this season, in fact they were up on the Mountain on Sunday to help celebrate the start of this season’s fun.

It truly is a beautiful area and I am blessed to be here. Maybe I will be able to snag some festive pictures as the days move closer to Christmas. I hope to get the time in somewhere?? For now, enjoy your day and live your life in the moment with passion, love and kindness :-).

“Christmas Shoes”

PurpleEleganceandLace

Well, I finished “The Christmas Shoes” last night. Very touching and heart warming.  The story points out the importance of family showing the two different lives of two families and how the smallest things do change our lives. The well to do attorney who has everything but nothing!! The simple living family who are struggling with losing their (Mom/wife/daughter) to cancer. It is so real and you can definitely place yourself in many of those situations. The attorney who is success bound and puts everything into his business leaving very little time for his wife and children. The story tells of his life from meeting his wife, to having his children, holidays at his Mom’s and what he goes through before he realizes what he has missed all these years. What is it that sets the light bulb off in his head and what he comes to realize and how…
